Why do I Create Content?

On March 17, 2023, I made a phone call that saved my life.

We were leaving that day for Spring Break at our Daufuskie Island home.

I'd visited the doctor the day before to run tests thinking I had kidney stones.

When a local number called me repeatedly, I stepped out of the class I was teaching & heard a voicemail from my doctor saying to call IMMEDIATELY.

I called, and she said to go immediately to the ER. My biliary duct was blocked, my liver wasn't working, and my bilirubin count was off the chart

.I told her I'd finish teaching for the day. She said, "No, go right now." I said, "At least I'll finish teaching this class." She said, "Nathan, you have 5 kids and shouldn't be standing right now. Dismiss the class and go to the ER."

I did.

At the ER, I was going downhill quickly. My skin was very yellow, my eyes turned yellow and the initial discomfort was getting worse. I was nearing sepsis shock. That weekend the doctors did 2 emergency surgeries that saved my life.

If I hadn't called my doctor back, we would've gone to private Daufuskie Island with no bridge and no hospital.

Likely, there would've been a much worse outcome.

That Spring Break in the hospital with my beautiful wife and 5 kids, I had time to reflect.

I’d never set out to become an UHNWI owning multiple profitable businesses and 43 pieces of commercial/residential RE.

I’ve always known that money is a tool, not an end. We're simply stewards of what God's entrusted us with.

I feel privileged to employ several hundred people through fantastic companies.

In the hospital, I thought to myself, “Nathan, why in the world do you keep buying more companies?”
This is crazy.

I’ve always prioritized God & family, but in the hospital, I had a strong desire to stop building my platform & start using it.

Through the years, I’ve given back financially (serve on several boards, support missions works, etc).
But I want to give back content as well.

I’ve spent 44 years (likely the first half my life) learning business/investing/RE, & I want to spend the 2nd half sharing lessons with others.

As a likely autistic introvert, I’ve been private about my life. I’ve viewed social media as a waste of time (even though my businesses have hundreds of thousands of followers on social).

I got out of the hospital & sold some businesses (a first for me).
I sold a restaurant, a huge costume company, & a commercial property.

It was liberating.
