Try this instead of micromanagement

Be a macro manager - the opposite of a micromanager.

My hiring philosophy is simple: Hire world-class people, then let them do their job. Servant leaders empower their teams to do the work.

Cancel a weekly 1-1 with a direct report because:

  • They're performing well
  • They are happy in their role
  • You wouldn't add any value

Why waste their time due to insecurities about doing your job? Empower your team by:

  • Letting them work where they want
  • Providing insight, tools, and resources
  • Removing barriers and distractions

Allow them to decide the "how," and trust them. Empower and support. Mind your business instead of theirs.
